So it takes a 69mm piston? Those must be kind of hard to come by. I thought they only went up to 67.5 or so. Did you overboard it after a piston seize? Does overboring make a noticeable difference in power? How long do those nikasil recoats typically last? As in how many pistons can one run before it needs replating (assuming one is always cautious and changes them before any issues appear)?
when I bought the bike it has a very badly worn bore
I send it out to langcourt to be replated and they told me they needed to bore it out to get it round again, they went with their biggest overbore which is 3 MM (they had the pistons on site)
it does feel like the best running motor of all 3 of my bikes BUT it is also the freshest one so I don't know how much the over bore plays into that
I think the newer platings last a long time, but since I don't have trip meters on any of my bikes its hard to tell how long long is
