what rims will fit my H?

hey guys
now that I have decided to keep my project bike and get my nephew riding it im going to want a set of dedicated winter rims for it
(also, my sister will be coming up this way around November and I want to be able to take her riding too)
so, to keep my options wide open, what year/model front and rears will fit the H model KDX200 ?

(and yes, I did just buy an extra rear rim from a fellow member but I want a second set of wheels for my second KDX)

this is what im looking for :)

(new muffler optional)

I know that the 2000 KX rear wheel will fit right on and they share the same sprocket and I think the rotor is the same also. So if the 00 fits then there should be a few other years up and down that also fit. But they are 19". Might be a little more available at times tho.

I wonder if a 19 would be less comfortable for winter riding?

I have a FRP ice tire on a 19" and it is fine. I only ride it on the lake ice so comfort isn't a concern. But if you are looking for a "winter rim" then comfort isn't really a concern anyway. The ground is frozen and any size will be hard.

just came across a set of 03 KX 125 (front and back) for 150 bucks shipped, I wish I had seen that one last year when I bought a set for my plated KDX (with KX front end)

It might be worth checking the hub to see if it is the same on the rear as a 2000 or 2001. I know the 05 KX250 has a larger brake rotor and didn't even look like it was close. I don't know when they changed.

would the front rim from a 94 KDX 250 fit ?
the hub number is different but all the parts are the same

and there seem to be a LOT of sets of KX rims on fleabay, would I be able to buy a KX front rim and a KDX hub and just lace that in?

Your links didn't work.

I know that a 2000 KX front wheel has larger spokes then a KDX so I would say that it wouldn't be worth your time to mess around with it because the front rim is the same size. You would be better off getting a KDX wheel.

But I know a guy that has a KX hub and axle for your bike with the fork swap.

Yeah, but I always intended to keep the bike with the fork conversion so I have two complete sets of wheels for it

Its the one with the stock rims I just decided to hang on to that I want a second set of winter wheels for

all the first numbers are the same but the last ones aren't

The first part of the part number is the reference number and the second is the individual part number. The reference number could be the same on a KDX80 and a KX500.

The trouble with checking by part number is that the part number is for the same exact part and not what will fit. You might be able to check with an aftermarket hub manufacture and see what hubs fit what bikes with a known compatable part. Like I know that a 2000 KX 250 wheel will fit a KDX so you might be able to see what other years the aftermarket hub for a KX fits. I think some of the KLX wheels fit also.
