First time fork rebuild.
Hello all. I'm in the process of replacing all the worn out suspension bearings and seals that are worn out on my e series I picked up last summer. I'm at the point where I need to replace the seals and bushings on my forks but have no idea how to dissasemble or re-assemble the forks. I'm sure I could start taking things apart and then in a frenzy try and figure out the reassmbly, but I'd figure I should ask for advice first. For instance I've found there is both a measurement for fork oil height and a weight measurement as well. Can you simply pour the oil in the tube before capping it accoring to the amount of oil you need? Suspension is probably my one weakness in knowledge when it comes to repairs. Thanks for any help/advice.

Best thing you can do is get a service manual. Replacing the seals and bushings is a fairly easy job, can be done in an afternoon easily. You can easily damage something just diving into it blindly. As for oil, you want to set it by level, and then adjust it to your style of riding. If it has the USD shocks you can start here : http://kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=102&t=354.

Have you got the correct spring rate for your weight / riding terrain / skill level?
As far as the forks, they won't be much trouble on a 1990 model (different post from OP).
10 weight is what is recommended in the service manual. Go by oil level in the compressed forks with the springs out.
You may want to look into buying the FRP Offroad fork tool to hold the damper rod upon dis-assembly and reassembly. One can never really torque back to exact spec without the tool.
