1st Hybri Attempt. Thoughts????
I have a 97 KDX200 and an 01 KX125 in the garage that I am using.
The KX swingarm looks different from the ones I have read about on this forum. It doesn't have any excess in the left bearing area to trim for clearance. The right side looks similar to the ones I have seen here.
Is this unusual, or am I missing something here?
My solution is to trim the case.
I have read several posts discussing how this is a "bad" idea, but I'm not so sure. I'm going to split the cases so I can mill it on my Bridgeport anyway, so I will put a full length sleeve in both sides of the case while it's apart.
That being said, I didn't engineer the thing, so I'm making some assumptions here, but I don't see that there's much, if any stress on that part of the case. The load is carried by the frame. The case acts as a spacer only to capture the bearing bushings.
Any thoughts or suggestions here?
Thanks
Pete

Are you currently riding the '97 KX125 and like it?
i had a '95 for a while and it was a pretty good ride in the woods, except for the way the motor performed.
A KDX200 motor in the '97 KX chassis would be a great woods bike.

I'm making progress slowly.
I got a 2000 swing arm and modified it to fit, reamed the case and welded in new mounts. I stretched the pipe 3/4" to fit and sent the carb/head and cyl out.
I still need to mod the KX airbox to fit the KDX boot, fab up the silencer and fit the 97 shrouds to the 01 frame.
I'm pretty happy with it at this stage, hopefully it will work well for me.
