Actually, the week Rick picked would be the only one that would work for the CT guys! I have an enduro on the Sunday the 3rd, nothing on the 10th, most likely working our event prep the 17th and then working the actual event the 24th!sped66 wrote:Dude, if you're willing to drive that far I'd meet ya whatever weekend you pick.SS109 wrote:If you guys do June next year I probably could make it.
(And if it's cheaper to fly, just bring your gear & you can ride my favorite bike... the KDX.)
Can you racers check your schedules again? Maybe there's a free weekend or two during the summer?

I appreciate that. The reason I could make it in June, or even early July, is that I visit family in Indianapolis, IN almost every summer. This year it doesn't look like I can make it back home but more than likely next year. Well, provided the world doesn't end December 21st!

So to confirm, we are looking at 6/6-6/11, 6/6 being a wednesday, the arrival day, and 4 days of riding, then monday 6/11 the departure.
NY is in, not sure if I will be alone or will be a group of 3.
Where are we staying? Gilbert again? Man? Or camping/lodging at a different trailhead?
WILL SOMEONE PLEASE BRING A KDX THIS TIME

I'll meet wherever you guys decide to go. But I simply can't recommend http://www.atvresort.com/ enough. Two (likely three by June) trail systems available right from your front door. Several hundreds of miles to explore. The accomodations are highly affordable & well kept. Friendly staff. I've stayed there three times so far with no complaints.

I'll mark the dates on my calendar, they work really well for me. Our June races are June 2 / June 30. I'll gladly ride whichever trail systems you guys wish, the ones we normally do are great OR hitting Indian Ridge or one of the new ones would be just fine.
So for the record, this is the 5th year we're doing this . . .
2008 - Mid July, did Rockhouse and stayed in Gilbert. It was HOT!! Highlight was a monsoon on the last evening that Rick and Tom got stuck in.
2009 - Late April, did Bearwallow and stayed at a campground. It rained the entire time but we managed to still have a great time. Highlight was Vince and KDXButterfly being there.
2010 - Early May, rode both Rockhouse and Bearwallow and stayed in Man. We dealt with a little rain but got quite a bit of riding in. Highlight was navigating a long, steep, slick hill as the daylight hours were waning and being rescued by quads!!
2011 - Again May, rode both Rockhouse and Bearwallow and stayed in Gilbert. Had to deal with some rain but made the best of it and got a bunch of riding in. Highlights included Tom riding a quad this go around and getting stuck in downpours.
2012 - ???
Did I miss other highlights?
I'd like to bring my oldest son. He'll be just a few weeks away from 15yr old but we could stay at my parents house so you old men can cut loose as you please. My parents live a short drive away from most of the trail systems so that would work out in that respect as well. We'd just meet you in the mornings (maybe even wake you up and get things going!) and probably have dinner with you in the evenings after the rides.
You guys OK with that?
He won't have any problem running with us, he rides/races a KTM200. In fact one downside is he very well may take a shot at things others might not and when he makes it it'll be "Oh no, a 14yr old just did it, now I HAVE to do it".

JEB, would the kid be interested in shooting up trail 199 with me if I tell him he can't make it?!?!
All kidding aside, how about indian ridge/pinnacle creek? Theres 14 miles of single track between the two of them and they are connected, and then of course we can dedicate 1 day to good old rockhouse.
OR, we can just stay at rockhouse again. I've done the last 2 years there and would like to ride it again since it truly has alot to offer.

Jim you know your son is more than welcome to ride
and hang out with all of us.
We will try not corrupt him too bad.......lol
I'm game on the ride as long as I don't have my shoulder
repaired before, other wise I'm out.
Most likely I'll be on the KFX and or the KDX although I haven't been on
two wheels at all this year.

We'll figure something out, he's going to really like both the riding and the people. He's easy to get along with and doesn't complain about anything (well, maybe except my mechanic skills sometimes). I just need to make sure everyone feels as much freedom to talk/joke/party as they normally do.TWMOODY wrote:Jim you know your son is more than welcome to ride

And he definitely isn't going to slow us down on the trails!

I can most definately do that without being vulgar.
Quality, not quantity! I can think of a certain trail (#165) I'd rather not go up again. Too much like work. Down, not as bad.SS109 wrote:Is 14 miles considered a lot around there?

Where is the planned ride location? It is as clear as mud from the previous posts. I may be up for Hatfield-McCoy, but would have a 9 year old along. He is pretty good, though, and may wear the old guys out.

Not clear as mud yet. Lets get into '12 and see where everybody stands. Then i'm sure a lot of us "usuals" will start making reservations and such. We can go from there... Getting excited!

Ok the CT crew is getting large, possibly seven of us. I'd like to get the ball rolling on reservations.
We're going with June 7-11 right?
Riding area? I'm up for anything but I think Rockhouse and Bear Wallow offer the most/best riding for first timers.
Places book up quickly so let's decide.
Oh, and I'm doing RH199.
