Ok bike has been runnin awsome scince last post, last week i went on a big ride in arkansas got back home with it & now its running ruff, did all the maintenance repacked the pipe ect... i talked to a fellow kdx rider he said the jetting needs to be adjusted when temps rise and fall i use castrol tts 2 stroke mix at 40 to 1 any suggestions on the jetting? Thanks, dirtmommy
ps the sooner the better got 2 munchkins with their. Hearts set on some seat time with mommy this weekend
Ok so i did all the jetting stuff found out I had water in my fuel, drained tank put new gas in, bike ran awsome parked it for the night went out the next day to ride and it was running like crap again I played around with the clipp setting moving the clip all the way to the bottom and moving it up as the bike improved I now have the clip on the very top of the needle bike runs much better but still a lil flatt in the middle what I am wandering now is, should I change out the needle and the main jett and possibly the slide I have heard running it on the top clip can mess up the motor? Is this true?
Running it on the top clip just means that you need to go down a size on your main jet. I would go a step down on your pilot jet as well. I don't know how running the clip in the top position could even remotely hurt your bike as it makes no sense. If it really could then why would Keihin, Mikuni, and others make the needles that way?
Good point i did find some more info on the carb the guy that built the bike said he put a KDX200 35 mm carb with a stock220 needle & slide 42 pilot 150 main with the clip one notch from the top
