Water pump weep hole

2002 kdx200. I'm rebuilding the water pump. Does the rubber seal in the middle cover the weep hole, and does the bearing on the inside of case set flush ? I feel if I put bearing flush the rubber seal will cover weep hole. Thanks. First time doing this job.

I’d make it flush. Is the bearing oem? If it’s aftermarket that might be contributing to the problem

It's all balls bearing. But I didn't try see if would go flush was scared to cover weep hole. But I think after work I'll tap it down and see what it does. I just was hoping someone knew if it would push the rubber seal to far

Consider that if it isn’t flush the impeller might not clear the water pump cover as intended

The oil seal should sit flush with the step, and the bearing should be flush with the case surface. When properly installed the mechanical seal partly covers the weep hole, it's there to indicate if the outer surface of the mechanical seal has failed and there is enough clearance around the body of the mechanical seal for the coolant to find it's way there. If you don't drive the bearing flush you will have fitment issues with the impeller/mechanical seal. Have used All Balls and OEM and it's the same for both.

Ok thanks for the info. I drove it as far as I could. It's almost flush. I'm waiting on the new shaft to get here then it's time to put back together.
