Is this wiring correct?

Post by lizardfungus200 »

Forgot to take pictures before I unplugged it all. Bike runs, killswitch works, but not getting voltage to lighting wires

looks correct, disconnect the yellow wire at the plug there and check for voltage on the wire coming from the stator. If no voltage there is a problem in your lighting coil in the stator assembly. If there is voltage then plug it in and check for voltage on the red wire coming out of the light switch (with the switch on of course). If no voltage there then the switch is likely bad.
The yellow wire is your lighting circuit which runs up to the light switch, changes to a red wire which runs to the headlight and taillight and junctions with a brown wire that goes to your regulator. If the regulator is shot you should still have lights but they will go bright/dim as you rev the bike and the voltage will climb well above 12V.

Thanks for the info. I had my meter set to DC and got nothing, so I assumed the wiring was wrong but switched to ac and got between 7 and 11v, so is the regulator just a reg and not a rectifier?

Yes, just a regulator, and the voltages are all AC.
