Double check your fuel petcock!!
This popped out while going to put my fuel line back on the carb. Imagine how disastrous that could've been if it popped out on the trail with a hot engine and a full tank! Make sure yours isn't falling apart. I pressed it back in and it seems tight but I bought a new one.

Not good.
I never could understand why it is a press fit part.
One of mine did something similar.

Like Jason said, it's just a press fit and isn't broken. Just press it back in with some pliers and you're good to go. Never had one pop out on it's own. Only when trying to get fuel hose on it. I consider it just another thing to check on my post ride maintenance.

I felt it swivel before but didn't realize it wasn't supposed to. That elbow should've been cast with the body. Becuase it broke loose and is fuel related, I saw it as broken.

I've thought many times of finding a replacement that doesn't hang so low but haven't gotten very far in the search.

I definitely didn't like how low it was while making needle adjustments. A KX 85 petcock is a direct fit and all they way up against the tank but you lose your reserve function. The toughest thing is finding a replacement with reserve with the outlet facing down. I replaced it with a Yamaha WR250 valve and its higher but exits toward the back of the bike. The fuel line I use is pliable so I used a longer line, fed it over toward the right side of the bike and looped it back around to the carb. It's a $7.00 eBay part so maybe it wont last long. So far so good, it shuts off the fuel supply.
I don't care what bike we're talking about, a petcock shouldn't cost $60-70 for OEM. A 3/4" quarter turn plumbing valve made of brass is about $10.
Edited about 9 times as usual for the iPad spelling "correction" I didn't pick up on the other 8 times (heading to Walgreens for some cheaters)
