KIPS is out of time?

Post by rtbmrgl »

Good evening from Nocal.

I believe the KIPS is out of time?, I have exhaust off, I noticed the port valves are not opening the same. The left side opens further, exposing part of the valve, right side seem normal. Maybe off a tooth off. Looking at manual it looks like the head need to be removed or not to align?

Tough to tell, but something looks a little off in your photo. Yes you have to remove the head, and it can be done with the engine in the bike, but honestly it's much easier to do it with the engine removed.

Thanks bufftester for getting back quickly.
Its definitely different then the right side. I have the right engine cover off doing a water pump seal, thats when I noticed. I also have the swing arm off doing bearing and linkage bearings, there's nothing in the way getting the engine out. I'll get the engine out, plus do a little frame painting.
