Cracked Rim
Took a ride in the desert today. Power washing the bike I noticed a crack in the front rim. It goes about 1/3 the way across. Anyone have experience having a cracked rim repaired or do I just replace it? My son is a welder, but hasn't ever fixed a rim before.

Re: Cracked Rim
It's actually not a rare event to have a rim crack. It can be welded fairly easily, though you will have to take the tire off. Unless you can find a cheap replacement I'd get it repaired.

Re: Cracked Rim
Easy repair. First three rules for welding aluminum are clean, clean & clean.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Re: Cracked Rim
Yes like everyone says, it can be welded.
Bass Bros Welding did my '73 SC500 wheel. He asked me if I wanted strong or pretty, I chose strong.
