I played in my first 2 Hare Scrambles last year: Harris bridge and Stranges ranch. Going to Deer Haven this Sunday. Who all else is going?

Thanks that looks interesting. I liked racing the Sumter Nat’l Enduro last year, the sand was really fun, though I spent too much time on the ground! We race that Martinsville venue in the VCHSS, we call it ‘Blue Ridge’. One of my favorites, took a third there last year in spite of the dust and a late start with a plug fouling issue (next day discovered a broken power valve too!).

I’d love to sneak in one of those SC races. Do you have a favorite course?

Moonstomoer, you’ll really like Mid-East. They do a great job. It’s like a “local” GNCC!

I’ve only done 2 Hare scrambles before and both were Mid East last year. Stranges ranch in Lauren’s SC had me high on life for weeks afterward! Harris Bridge was also fantastic, but that Stranges ranch was something else.
I’m taking the KLX300 tomorrow and probably to the next scramble or till it warms up.
These 2 strokes I love so dearly just run too cold in cool weather for me to take them now……..

Huh? What do you mean by that?

My KDX runs like a scalded dog when it’s cold. I run it all year. Just don’t be afraid to adjust your needle clip.

Proper setup is key. I assume Jeff Fredette raced a zillion times in ice racing on a two-stroke.

Every single bit of that is truth haha. I’m an engine nut and flogging a cold engine just bothers me.
It was an adventure today, it rained for an hour before the race, talk about a mud bath! Not even the standing water kind, it was the sticky thick caked kind that you get stuck walking in! I finished 3 laps (9 miles per loop), but I’ve never been this exhausted in my life.
I almost quit after losing my front brake (15 mins into the race), and really almost quit on the last half of the last lap. I made it out, but this is the first time I’ve ever rode in mud that you almost couldn’t walk in. I did have a ball, next time I’ll be on my kdx or my RM125 though!
Picking the KLX up 20+ times (yea, I laid it down that much) and kicking that 4t was…….unreal.

WOW! Nasty conditions indeed. Good job to make it out.

The KDX can handle cold temps with no issue as long as your jetted accordingly and running any 2T oil that isn't castor based. I've ridden more than a few times in temps below 32f and the KDX cruised along like a happy little bike.

It was a fantastic place! Part of the loop was a mx track, my 140 lbs was constantly bottoming the stock forks😁
Yea I’m sure the kdx will be fine. When I rode my RM125 in 30 degree weather I stopped after a 1.5 hour ride and put my hand on the cylinder instantly. It was luke warm😳
I run a Wiseco in that bike and I know that piston ran “small” the whole time.
I’m sure the extra displacement of the kdx has it considerably closer to operating temp in cold weather.

If need be, block off a portion of the radiator(s) to get the temp to where it needs to be.

That’s what I need to do, long as I can remember to pull it when it warms up.

Just cut a small piece of cardboard and slide it in behind your louvers. You can also paint it some obnoxious color so you don't forget its there.

I’m gonna try it, it’d be nice to be smokin sooner rather than later!
