Sourcing KIPS valves

Post by Buellner »

Hello all, currently looking for LH and RH kips valves (#'s 12005-1140 & 12005-1141). I thought I read about steel replacements after the common trouble with damaged valve shaft splines on the oem parts. Has anyone sourced these steel replacements?

Also, If anyone has a reliable source for the oem kips valves, I would prefer to purchase from a referred source. My '91 KDX 250 build is coming along beautifully from the bottom up and these are the only parts keeping my new engine from running.

Any advice on the matter is appreciated and after reading through other discussions, thought it was best to post new.

Motosport has them in stock according to their web site: 12005-1140 LH Valve, 12005-1141 RH Valve, but they'll run you about $80 a piece. I believe the steel ones were being made in the UK but were for the E-series 200s (different valve)

Main thing is to take it apart and clean them vs. just let them set until it is too late.
