I think that bike might be next on my bike list.....Of course I have to explain to my wife why I need that (YZX) right after spending an a$$ load of money on my KDX...Oh well, I want a new bike too....And since my son is kicking my butt with his 220, I might as well go "one size up" :supz:

Same price as a YZ. $1k cheaper than a KTM 250 XC.

For handling and comfort I'll take a YZ over a KTM every day, so it's mostly whether they got the motor as well suited to off road as a KTM.

with an aluminum frame I'll bet it's loads lighter than a KDX.
If I made enough money to afford buying new bikes and I needed a trail bike I would definitely buy it.

I don't think aluminum frames are that much lighter than steel frames. It's a lighter material, but you have to use more of it. Little things like an aluminum shifter, kickstart lever and brake lever (vs. steel on the KDX) might add up to a few pounds.

I wanna say the aluminum-frame YZ was about 3-4 lbs lighter when they switched from the steel framed model. They also changed to a different swingarm at the time.

The aluminum 2005 frame lost ~5 lbs from the 2004 steel frame. Just frame, not bike.

We'll see if this works
http://www.thumpertalk.com/index.php?/topic/496051

He claims 5.8 lbs when he weighed both frames, and that someone else was at 4.4 lbs. I want to recall another aluminum frame swap that was 4.7 or 4.8 lbs between the two.

Since then the YZ has had minor weight trimmings via front brake line guide, calipers, forks, shock spring, etc.

My 05 ready to rock (cept gas) with Gnarly pipe, bark busters, Turbinecore 2, skid plate, radiator guards, and, heaviest of all, studded up for winter, was 236 lbs. With sts tubes and tires I bet I could have been at or under 230 lbs.

A new WR250!!! I may have soiled myself.

FWIW, My 94 came with a lighting coil/lead to panel, but no actual light. Guessing this is the same.

Maybe Suzuki, Honda, and especially Kawi will follow suit with some new 2Ts.

Looks like a solid bike, shame no lights and e start for sure. Not sure about the ceramic cylinder liner tho.... All the other specs look interesting. I'd still rather a husky or KTM two stroke enduro

I bought a '14 husky te250 and was disappointed. A rather boring engine, poor stock suspension, and not the best handling bike. I sold it and bought an OLD rmx250 that I rebuilt. That antique bike is more fun, has better suspension and a lower seat (36 inches). Progress? Not really. I guarantee you the Yamaha KYB suspension will be much better than the KTM white power stuff.
