KX250 97 front spokes
I'm rebuilding my KX250 97 front wheel. I bought a spokes kit. It's sold as KX/KXF 92-2013 21". But compared to the old spokes, the new spokes are about 3 or 4mm shorter
Is it normal ?
Thanks

Re: KX250 97 front spokes
I checked on cmsnl.com and from 1989 to 1999 the Kawasaki spoke reference is the same (410291197). But starting 2000 the front wheel uses two spokes reference: 41029-1295 for the 27 inner spokes and 41030-1165 for the 9 outer spokes.
So how can a spokes kit be sold as 1992-2013 ? I checked, even Excel kits specify the same years range.

Any chance you don't have a 1997 KX250 front wheel? The diagram here shows 230mm, which looks like your new spoke length.

I don't think so, it seems to be OEMJason wrote:Any chance you don't have a 1997 KX250 front wheel? The diagram here shows 230mm, which looks like your new spoke length.

TAKASAGO J 21x1.60 DOT 315 JAPAN 897
Hub F-1249 Kawasaki MADE IN JAPAN
But I don't have a 100% guarantee, I bought the wheel on eBay.

Think the old ones are just stretched out.

Re: KX250 97 front spokes
It looks like a 1998 model, as the date code is August of 1997. Either way, they are the same OEM parts, I think.

Re: KX250 97 front spokes
I played the spokes lottery again I received today the spokes for the KDX rear wheel. It's an Excel Excel XS9-21187 kit, sold as compatible with KDX200 89-06. I opened the package, the spokes seem to have the same length as the OE spokes. But the nipples are bigger, 8.5mm. So it's a semi-fail I think enlarge the rim holes as already read here. It's only 1mm difference. btw I don't have the rim here, maybe it will fit like that.
Another finding: unlike the new front wheel nipples these Excel nipples can be screwed on the OE spokes.

Nevermind, the Excel nipples fit perfectly in the rear rim.

Re: KX250 97 front spokes
KDX rear wheel laced. But for the KX front wheel theses "Gnerik" spokes doesn't work. I can lace the first 9 spokes but after the angle seems to be different. I'll have to buy the Excel too...
