1987 switching mikuni vm34ss to air striker pwk 38

Post by Michael93 »

Hey all having a hard time finding right parts, even complete, for my 87 200 it's running the stock vm34ss, I had a guy mention alot of guys are buying the air striker pwk 38 as a replacment, just after some solid advice as I can't find anyone that has done it, do the carbs bolts straight on and just require to switch jets, is there alot more to it,, or does anyone know a good site to buy mikuni parts

Welcoe to kdxrider and good morning!

A 38 mm on a 1987 KDX200?!

Look at a normal PWK, then look at your airbox. OOPS! The adjustments are blocked by the airbox.

A lot of the parts in the OEM carb are just standard VM34SS parts. Do you have a Sudco or jetsrus equivalent in AUS?

Are you the guy looking for a needle? I told someone on a FB group where to get one. Forget Suduco, jets r us, and the ebay carbs.

You're all over the place asking for help. That's fine. How about following up with some of the sound advice you were given. I told you where a needle could be purchased. I also told you that a new carb would have the choke on the wrong side.

I searched so many places and made call, and I've been told I'll have more luck finding gold, the only place that hasn't got back to me is of road innovations, now if by some chance they do is the price gonna warrent it or will i be better of buying a 88 cable and carby and switching to pod

I think I have two needles. I would consider selling one of them.

Personally, I would experiment with other Mikuni needles before installing a modern PWK.

Target man I did an email the other day, but haven't a a reply just yet, and I for sure wanna keep the original over and aftermarket, it's just I wasn't sure how long it would take so i was looking at other options, and I realise a pwk35 would be the one to swap to not an 38, but I make have got lucky and got a complete carby for 130 in mint condition
