93 build update

Post by Isgc »

Update on my 93'. I purchased a pair of polisport side panels for an 03-08 kx250, and modified them to fit on my KDX. I love the look of these on my bike. The modifications that were required were cutting some of the fins on the backside of the panels, and cutting the top edge to the contours of the seat. I also drilled new holes in the subframe bars for the bottom mounting bolts and used a thread rivet insert in the subframe. Still needs a bit of tweaking, but it's looking great in my opinion

Your bike looks awesome! What rear fender are you running? I'm also rebuilding a 93. Here is a pre-rebuild photo. What was the condition of your bike prior to your build and how long did it take?

I am running the rear fender from a 1999-2002 KX250. I'd say over all, this bike has taken me around a year to clean up, repair and buy new parts. here is a picture from when I first brought the bike home. she was a runner, but had a few issues with the motor, and carb. Since this last post, I have put some new Michelin starcross 5 medium tires on the bike.

What did you do to get that rear fender mounted? It looks really good!

The rear fender practically bolted right up using the original side mounts. the plastic required a bit off cutting where the exhaust pipe runs back, and a bit of trimming around the overflow reservoir.
