I purchased a new rear mx fender from UFO for my '89 (part #KA02710-026) but it doesn't fit. First off the fender was too wide to slip in between the subframe and I had to gently squeeze the sides down to make it fit. Once in place it looked ok but then I realized the bolt holes didn't line up. The rear subframe mounts of the fender have to be drilled out and I had them lined up but the front holes that are pre-drilled and mount behind the airbox were 1/2" short of lining up. I made sure everything fit correctly and there's no binding anywhere but I can't slide the fender forward any more to get the front holes to line up. The subframe is original and has never been damaged/repaired, and the fender being replaced is a worn out UFO enduro w/light for the E models. I was told it's an easy swap...
Would an OEM KX rear fender be any different/better? What am I missing and anyone else have a similar issue?

Use Ufo Green Rear Fender Fits Kawasaki Kx125 Kx250 1992-1993
So in making that fender work which i did do and am SUPER happy with the look and feel... you will need to cut some material from where the kdx exhaust runs through on the right side. squeeze the thing like a taco to make it fit between the frame rails and make little straps to reach from the front mounts behind the air box and the fender. I used a Quick clamp to squeeze the fender to slip in between the frame rails and shoved the bolts through. I then made some real quick little aluminum straps to reach forward to mount the front of the fender. I think they are made of 1"x1/8" strap picked up from the local Homeless Deathspot. All together this is an awesome upgrade and the integrated handles on the fender are SOOOOOO much nicer than my MX fender on my 02 220 that I'm thinking of trying to adapt a new fender to that bike. The first ride out with the new fender met a lot of time hitting the ground as the bike was intended for new riders and it held solid. I COMPLETELY RECOMMEND THIS UPGRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Mx Rear Fender
Guffer, an OEM fender would not fit any better. UFO may have made a "MX style" rear fender in the past. Check with FRP Offroad.

Re: Mx Rear Fender
I used this same fender on my 93. I trimmed the front of the fender at the airbox until the pre-drilled rear holes matched up with the subframe. After they lined up, I just had to oval the front two holes slightly to get the front section bolted up. All in all, it's a very easy modification to the fender to make it fit like factory.
