89 KDX200e whistle then nip

Hi there,
New to forum & thought I would ask before digging deeper.
Recently picked up an 89 200e. Very pleased with her.
Apparently she had had new kips.
All was well then on going up a hill a strange whistle from engine then very soon after I noticed she wanted to nip up so I killed the engine.
Once cooled she started right up. A few minutes more the whistle started again[ up and down with revs]...Killed the engine again.
She got me home, No whistle but def wanting to nip up.
There was always fluctuation in the revs at idle so maybe an air leak?
Oil in reservoir. Coolant to the brim.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Reservoir??

Do you have a metal tank or plastic tank?

Reservoir = oil tank
Its a plastic tank ;)

I found an air pocket in the oil feed line so I put a fresh tank of fuel and pre mixed at 40-1
I also noticed the gear box oil was very low so topped that up too.
Took the carb off and checked for air leaks around the manifold.
Tightened everything up and gave her a kick.
Set tickover...Which is still a little high but now constant...And went for a blat!

She go's like a rocket! No sign of the whistle or any nipping...But when I stopped I found she had developed an oil leak :(
Looks like its coming out around the shifter but unsure as it was pretty dirty and oily so came home slowly as the oil had found its way everywhere including the rear wheel.

In the USA, 1989 - 1994 KDX200's are the "E" series "dirt-only" models. The bikes don't have an oil reservoir, but do have a coolant reservoir. Either your bike is not an "E", you put oil in the coolant reserve tank or something else? That is why I asked.
