two OEM number for the center valve

Post by frenche200 »

hello!
i have discover the center exhaust valve can have two different numbers :
12005-1157
Partzilla say it will fit E1 E2 E3 E4 E5 E6 and name it "VALVE-EXHAUST,CENTER"
and
12005-1115
Partzilla say it will fit E1 E2 and name it "VALVE-EXHAUST,MAIN"

but if i look on an OEM catalog
( E5) http://www.kawasakipartshouse.com/oempa ... d-cylinder
(E1) http://www.kawasakipartshouse.com/oempa ... d-cylinder

I can see it is the same part , on the second link (E1)i see the two number with the same name "
VALVE-EXHAUST,CENTER"

Could someone explain to me why is there two differents number for the same part?

Thank you
i'm French and I don't speak English very well, so, please, excuse me :)

For USA models, look on the Kawasaki site under Owner Info and Parts Diagrams:

Look at 1989 and 1990 KDX200, then look at "Remarks". It shows a different center valve system for certain VIN numbers, until there was a change.

I've also been curious as to why later year e-series kdx models show a different main valve number. They also don't seem to include the wave washer called for on the 89-90 models. Maybe that is the difference between the two.

Ok,thank you  ! i have bought in an old stock a new center valve , the number is for E1 E2 and i have an E5 ....
Numbers of cylinder, bushing center valve , rings , spacer , are the same on the E1 and E5 , so I suppose if i found a "wave washer " 92022-1978, I guess I should be able to mount the valve on my E5?
What do you think?

Can you tell me what this number means that is in the remarks? ( - DX200EE011340)
It doesn't look like part of the vin. Does Kawasaki use a system similiar to Yamaha that they call a Primary ID?

I'm guessing you only need to look at the last 6 of that number? So anything with a vin ending in a number lower than 011340 uses the older style main valve while any that end with a number higher use the newer style? Mine ends in 009000 so I'm guessing I use the older style that requires the wave washer.

I see absolutely no reason why it wouldn't work.
