Hello all, I'm pretty new to this forum and i plan on rebuilding my Forks. My bike is a 1994 KDX200 with the inverted forks. So far i plan on ordering the OE bushing, both OE outer oil seals, 7W fork oil, and the 43mm seal driver. My question is should i order new OE .30kg fork springs as well?
Do i Need new OE .30 springs on my Fork Rebuild?

The .30 springs are insanely light for most riders. How much do you weight?

I had my 94 forks built for me. Surprisingly the bushings where like new when the forks were taken apart, don't buy them until you know. OEM seals and wipers are recommended, but not required. I weight 165 w/o gear and am now running .42 springs. They are hard to find, but a necessary improvement. My builder also did a "balancing hole" in the damping rod. His work made these forks feel awesome, way better than they were and they instill confidence in the bike at high and low speeds.
DO NOT go with stock size springs, they are way to light! If you are willing to buy new springs, buy heavier springs and for your weight and riding style.

I weight roughly 180lbs, but i'm having a hard time finding aftermarket suspension parts so i figured i would just go OEM. The bike only see's intermediate woods riding and hare-scramble trails. I wasn't going to rebuild them alone. I attend college at SUNY Morrisville in upstate NY for automotive and one of my professors is a bike expert who is willing to teach me how to rebuild my Forks on his spare time.

Racetech has heavier springs available.

You're in luck, the .42's are to light for you and you can easily find heavier springs than that. Racetech has a chart. Whatever you do, don't bother buying new OEM springs, it is a complete waste of $$. If you stay with OEM rates, just reuse your old springs, they'll still be a usable.
