Trials Tire (MT43)

Got out with the Pirelli MT43, last Sat. Plus new Shinko fatty on front. I am mentally trying to compare between Kenda Equilibrium and MT43. But have had a set of cheap Scorpions in between.
I got the WTF-look by my buddies who run 525 Cheaters and one thought my trials rear would be less than adequate for some places.
Anyways…worked great. Maybe even as good as the equilibrium. One guy watched to see what would happen on wet side-face and he said it did not spin at all.
We made it up Marty’s Mania…what some people think is hardest marked trail at our ORV park. It was first time I did not puss-out and turn around. Plus any mistakes made had nothing to do with the tires.
The only spin I got was on smooth plastic culvert pipe, with a root right in front of it.
So I will give it thumbs up in the gnar.

The fatty Shinko on front will take some getting used to. I am dialed into a skinny MX tire, with all the side knobs chunked off, so front end feels completely different. I think I like it, but is weird to actually feel traction in the front end. Defiantly need to pay more attention since it will pull front end out of a rut if you push it that way.
But Very nice for cushioning and tracking were intended in the slow stuff. Front end feels little “heavy” when trying to flow a bit at the higher speed.
Probably just need to get used to it and will like it a lot.

I think I am liking the old school look. To me kinda says, “this is a woods bike.”

One of my favorite back tires was a Motoz Mountain Hybrid, which looks like your. It provided great traction on wet rocks and even in the desert. It lasted a long time. The only areas it underperformed was deep sand (still ok) and it balled up going down muddy hills, like most tires do.

I had a Kenda Equilibrium on the rear of my wife's KTM 200 XC-W for a while, and that thing has an awesome rubber compound and an AWESOME tread pattern with SIPING in the tread blocks even, that's fantastic! The thing about it though, is that it really isn't anything beyond a trials type tire that can do slightly better in the mud, because the carcass is too soft for my likings... If I ran Luciolis rear extreme ultra heavy duty rear inner tube, I would certainly consider running an Equilibrium at 9psi, but I wish it had the same thick tough rigid sidewall carcass construction that the Shinko 520DC rears (as well as the 525 Cheater and R505 Cheater), IRC VE33s Gekkota, and Sedona MX907HP rears have which I have tried all previously,and been very happy with...
I'd considered the MotoZ Extreme Hybrid Gummy as well, it's like the MotoZ Mountain Hybrid Gummy but slightly wider spacing between the knobs, but the Kenda Equilibrium tread block side, shape, spacing, and the siping cuts in the tread blocks are all pretty much PERFECT for the riding I do, except for the sidewall construction... very soft flexy trials tire like design...

I'm currently on a Shinko 520 DC, and it's absolutely incredible in nearly all terrains, with only a few areas where it's just "good." I have a larger Sedona MX907HP 120/90-18 rear on deck next, ran a 110/100-18 of it prior with good success. Going to 120 as I really liked the skinny-for-a-120 Shinko 520DC in the only size they're available in, 120/100-18, and the larger 120/90-18 Sedona is likely to clear out mud slightly better than the MX907HP 110/100-21
